We have been told that our meals are the best in the backpacking business. We've spent many years getting to know what you like; reasonable prices, hearty portions designed for healthy young appetites and always a proper veggie option.
So before you decide on doing the self catering thing at Buccaneers (which is an option) and bring your groceries here only to find that you take them away with you uneaten, have a look at our menus.
Small changes happen from time to time.

Breakfasts are taken in the most stunning View of Africa room.
An enormous deck gives you a sweeping view across the lagoon and over a vast stretch of coastline. Choices are from the highly healthy (fruit salads, homemade yoghurts) to the decidedly unhealthy (cholesterol and calorie rich fried bacon and eggs etc)

Lunches involve grabbing a highly healthy salad sandwich from reception on your way to the beach or taking a leisurely lunch at the poolside cafe - like an excpetional salad or a divine pizza or a yummy tramezzini washed down with a nice cold lager.

Dinners - there's a different and very tasty veggie option every night
SUNDAY - PASTA DE LUXE - cream, feta, olives, bacon and mushrooms
MONDAY - BANGERS AND MASH - (pork sausages with mashed potatoes)
WEDNESDAY - ROAST CHICKEN with all the trimmings
FRIDAY - BRAAI (Not Barbie mate - this is South Africa!)

Buccaneers is so easy to find.

Easiest of all is to hop on the Baz Bus which will bring you to our door.
We do pick ups in East london only by prior arrangement and only once a day.

Self drives can reach us easily off the N2 - CLICK MAP BELOW FOR DETAILS

Buccaneers has been described as being like a backpackers village because of the way it's spread out over the 8 hct of wild coastal forest right next to the stunning Chintsa beach. Most people say that it's a place to come home to, a legend in it's own time. For us it is home and for the past 12 years we have been sharing it with people just like you - travellers from all over the world.

We offer choices.......
There's a lovely lively bar which has certainly seen some great revelry in its time. Our stunning tropical pool is a buzzy spot in the summer months when a gorgeous poolside cafe offers decidedly decadent refreshments (including divine pizzas!). And every day we have some sort of free activityso you can chill and meet the rest of the gang.
And for you, the quieter ones, Buccaneers is a haven of tranquility and natural delights - quiet beach walks or canoe trips up the Chintsa river and a secret bird hide on our own dam.

Buccaneers is what it is because we love what we do. We relish the laid back friendly style, the fact that only first names count and the sense that we're all kindred spirits. We love our type of travellers - friendly, curious about every aspect of our beautiful country, tolerant of some of the shortcomings of the rural scene (power failures!) and so enthusiastic and well informed about life in general.

Buccaneers is known for its great choices - and this goes for our accommodation as well.

If you're a couple wanting something really special, our en-suites are just divine with beautiful sea views and lovely private sundecks.
Our other doubles and twins vary in price according to their views but they are all situated in our rather cute little beach cotages with its own shared bathrom and living areas which open onto lovely bouganvillea covered patios.
Our double and twin safari tents offer a very good budget option for couples. Supplied with beds and bedding and within easy distance of the bathrooms and kitchen, they take all the effort out of camping!
We have one large airy dorm with stunning sea views and 4 smaller 4 bedded dorms which appeal enormously to groups of friends.
Camping is popular during the high season when people want to save their money for all the good things that happen at Buccaneers - the festive bar, the yummy meals and much much more.......

Every day there's a free activity designed to get you together with the rest of the crew. This could be a sundowner type affair (with free wine!!) like a volleyball session or a booze cruise or a trip to ther giant sand dune. The free breakfasts every Sunday morning have become famous! Then there's the beautiful tropical pool, the canoes for the lagoon, and of course the stunning Chintsa beach with its 15km of pristine shoreline and rockpools full of fascinating sea life.
