Wild Lubanzi - Backpackers & Trail Lodge

-::- Guide No: WL2121 -::-

Wild Lubanzi is the kind of place you just don't want to miss on your journey along the Wild Coast. It is the perfect place to just chill out and relax for a couple of days. The backpackers is nestled on a hill overlooking the beach and fantastic cliffs in the distance. It is a small place, so you won't find lots of people, but instead, lots of peace and quietness. Only the sound of the rolling waves will accompany you all day ...

The place is accessible by normal cars, however, the last 4.6 km are very bumpy, and are impassable in rainy weather. So keep an eye on the weather report if you are on a tight schedule!

There are two ensuite rondavels ready for you, and sleeping arrangements can be modified according to your needs. Usually a rondavel contains one double bed and two single beds. The rooms are cozy and facing the garden and the beautiful view onto the sea. The sun rises over the sea and will shine directly into your window, so keep your camera ready!

Whole hut: R450 per unit / Double room ensuite: R300 per room / Dorm: R100 per person

This is the Transkei so be prepared to forsake the cities comforts for a while and enjoy the presence of nature! The hot water for the showers comes from a solar water heater, so midday is the best time for a hot shower, and on cloudy the days, the water is only luke warm. We use rain water for drinking; the tap water comes from a nearby spring and is for washing only. In this rural area there's no electricity - the generator can be run in the evening by request (to charge laptops, cellphones etc.) but otherwise it's good old parafin lanterns. There's a braai place for your use and a fully equipped self-catering kitchen. And make sure you get a taste of our fresh veggies straigt from our organic garden!

This area is known for it's fishing, and one of the most famous fishing spots is basically on our doorstep! Bring your fishing gear and head out to Umbolompo Point for some good catch!

If you don't like fishing, take a hike along the coast, visit some locals, or just hang out at one of the secluded and mostly deserted beaches with a good book!
